Movie Posters

My Company is currently having a movie poster themed art show up on its walls for anyone to enter. I figured I would try my hand at some stylized posters of some of my favorite movies.

Wine Label

Recently got the opportunity to do some designs for a new wine label named Montagne Russe starting up in Napa. It was a great experience. They were botteling three different types of Syrahs and needed one label with three variants. The original notes were to have a modern repurposed feel. I started there and did some concepts.

From here we moved forward with the tracks idea, and based the concept on the title of the wine label, Montagne Russe which translates to Roller Coaster.

Street Fighter

Wanted to do a stylized version of the Street Fighter gang for a while, so I put my spin on them.

I went with solid gradient fills, its a new style to me that I was messing around with and ended up really liking. I wanted to find a simple way of breaking shapes apart without illustrating many layers of overlapping shadow and highlight shapes. I punched up the gradients a bit to cover both ends of the spectrum. Then I spent some time playing with the fades to really enhance the cut out paper 3D feel.

Hope you guys like

Niners

Here are some characters I did of the 49ers last season. Was hoping that they would win the super bowl, but meh...

I tried a style that was new to me, still vector, but I used the brush tool to set up the form and then played with some gradients for the fills.

hope you all dig um!

Robut Print

I wanted to do a print of the Robot once it was complete. So I printed a few layers and did some cut out work. Heres the final product.

A Giant Robut!

Started sketching a huge robot getting hit by missiles at work, I liked the idea, so I flushed it out.

I wanted to play with some the angle a bit, and in the end I added a fisheye feel to it to pronounce the size of the thing. I wanted this machine to appear as tall as a skyscraper, and for the viewer to feel tiny and helpless compared to it. I then added the ricocheting gun fire to show that he was to massive to be stopped.

Heres my process start to finish

Bombs Away!

So I figure since I am new to the blogging scene I should throw some of my old work on here just to get things rolling.
